ACAPULCO, GUERRERO
Two heads and the decapitated bodies were found Monday. The heads were in the trunk of a burned taxi, with one body on the floor of the rear seat and another in the street.
DURANGO, DURANGO
Between June 20 and July 16, there have been 19 persons killed in separate incidents, with some of them dismembered. The report goes on to list the approximate ages, where found and any identifying facts. Of note is that 3 were women, found butchered and in plastic trash bags.
CIUDAD JUAREZ, CHIHUAHUA
The Chief of Police has been given control of the Commerce Department. The current director had received threats for over a year. The Chief had sought control in order to regulate security in dealing with extortion of merchants.
TAMAULIPAS
State residents are arming themselves in self defense, tired of years of insecurity and violence. They have organized communication networks, and through this, urged citizens to take up arms to protect themselves. In some rural towns, the Mexican military has urged residents to leave for their safety. (The state is one of the primary areas being fought over between the Gulf Cartel and Los Zetas.)
CHIHUAHUA, CHIHUAHUA*
On Wednesday, a female municipal police officer was executed in her own car while driving. She was in uniform.
MONTERREY, NUEVO LEÓN
Two federal agents, a man and woman, were shot and wounded while driving on Monday. One person was arrested.
