ZACATECAS**

MONTERREY, NUEVO LEÓN
Violence has closed down many bars, cafes, restaurants and nightclubs which served 10,000 customers every weekend. With the arrival of Los Zetas in 2010, extortion, kidnapping and drug-related crime increased against these businesses. The American owners simply closed down and moved back into the U.S. when they were threatened. Many of the owners say the criminals operate with impunity through consent of the local police. (Note bullet holes below.)

CIUDAD VICTORIA, TAMAULIPAS
Carlos Alberto Fernández Hernández, “El Double K”, identified as the plaza boss of Cd. Victoria for Los Zetas was killed on Friday along with 3 accomplices. Seized were two rifles, two handguns, 811 cartridges, 35 magazines, a vehicle, 38 thousand pesos’s, $ 29,000, plus tactical equipment and communication equipment.

COYUCA DE CATALAN, GUERRERO*
About 3am on Monday, an off duty Mexican soldier was having a drink when armed gunmen entered the bar, walked to his seat and shot him in the head. They then took his body and threw it into the street. A waiter was wounded by a stray bullet.
